Coupon Thief Alert!
Name: Joey – Wanted!

I can’t believe it! Our 11-year-old son Joey, is wanted for coupon snatching! Don’t let that picture above fool you! There isn’t any cash in there… those are all of our coupons, and he’s going around the block breaking into people’s houses collecting coupons!!! Right now, my wife and I have the “Coupon Bureau Investigation Team” out on a search for him!

Perhaps, this all happened because last night I was helping him with his homework. He was struggling with understanding his work and began to get frustrated. I told him this is not the time to lose patience and reminded him that he is in the 5th grade now. That it’s time to step it up and show his brilliance. Then he gave me such a look that I really didn’t understand what it meant. In fact, I didn’t think much of it other than the fact he was probably just crabby. Well! Come to find out my son is on a mission to show his brilliance. I can’t believe this! It’s suppertime and he’s still not home! I guess he wants to prove that “coupons” are like money. Or, did he just realize it would be easier for an 11 year old to get in a house than into a bank? Hmm, he could steal the money at the homes too, but he is choosing coupons instead. Wait a minute! Maybe he realizes that he’s actually not stealing anything! If he knows people are throwing them away… maybe he thinks he’s doing a good deed by putting them into good use! Okay, maybe I can relax for a minute and not have to ground him when he decides to come back home. I don’t know though because as a parent there has to be some punishment here. I can’t just let him get away with going into peoples houses especially in the middle of the night.

I was definitely going to ground him for the rest of his life when I noticed the bottles in the picture were empty. But, after the investigation when my son escaped the “Coupon Bureau Investigation Team” told me the bottles were only empty because he found them in the neighbor’s recycling bin and he was going to cash them in, not because he drank them. I guess my son felt like he was taking nickels out of the garbage. Awe, I’m starting to feel a little proud of him. I’m starting to feel a little bad about last night too. Maybe I should sit down with him and go threw his homework patiently this time. Who can be upset with a little boy that understands that coupons are like money! Thanks to the “Coupon Bureau Investigation Team” for their hard work. But, seriously if anyone sees him tell him to get his butt home already. My wife won’t feed me until we’re all sitting at the table!
